Pros
Since acquisition, the company is working in tangible ways to various improvements for items listed in cons. Compared to other construction materials testing firms, they do offer decent benefits, paid time off, and holiday pay for 7 1/2 holidays through the year. Field personnel can anticipate a fuel card, truck for work use that you can take home, and a full schedule when completely certified.
Cons
There's a very "in" and "out" crowd within the company. You're either appreciated and indispensible, or you're not worth their time. Once you are labeled as such, it is very hard to work on any constructive feedback to prove the contrary. This was both witnessed as happening to others as well as personal experience. Their HR is non-existent. Don't expect issues to be resolved expediently unless it violates a Federal law. Depending on your state, it can be difficult to receive the certifications needed to become multi-faceted within the company and able to deliver on numerous projects. Sattelite offices often do not get the support they need, when they need it. Support staff are over-worked and exhausted. The bar is set beyond human capability and you will be penalized if the bar isn't met. Transparency is very hard to come by, as are advancement opportunities. At time of departure, the company still had a "small business" mentality, when they're no longer "small."
