Seems like a great job until it isn't. - Sales Associate CITY HOME Employee Review

Pros

They have a fantastic training program and a great benefits package. You can visit the health facility for free until your insurance kicks in. Offers $15 an hour for your first 8 weeks to get started. The corporate employees are very kind and friendly people, but the sales teams are full of cliques.

Cons

VERY high-pressure sales environment. Do not work here if you want to eventually move out of sales. If you are good at sales and attempt to get a corporate position they will keep you in sales for their benefit. The company communication emails from top leadership do nothing but push sales constantly. The president believes that the COVID-19 crisis was an opportunity to sell more furniture and directly stated so via email. Some fellow salespeople are nice, but most behave like they are still in high school (regardless of old age even). They recently changed leadership structure and demoted many individuals and seem to be changing the commission structure soon to where it will be harder to earn bonuses ( a third of most associates's income). Change can be a good thing, but the changes they are undergoing are rather concerning. Half of the employees have been brainwashed while another good portion secretly hates their jobs. The turn over rate is very high, and it seems like an amazing job and company until you start to learn their politics and see how they take advantage of their sales associates. You will also work about ten hours a day.

Work life balance, hard work recognized, and some of the best management I've ever worked with. Bonuses if you work hard. Great workflow and everyone is always doing their best. Looking forward to a long career here. I thank God everyday for my job and coworkers.

Cons

Not much. Great place in general.

Pros

2020 and maybe 21,22 were good after it all went down hill (thanks to AH )

Cons

Everyone is related , friends , family etc. HR is all friends with eveyone there for you cannot be taken serious . So many talented associates leave because they are forced out due to personal preference. Turn over company wide they say is low. However the location I worked in 80 precent of people were 6 month or under ! Yikes !!! Management does not know how to keep and lead their team , instead they micro manage , make up new rules that they do not follow after a few weeks and they always seem stressed. Oh and bonus program is constantly restructured . They present it as new opportunities however it’s really for them to pay less. This company always pays very low percentage and you have to jump through hoops that are on fire to make a bonus. And I wasn’t some employee who worked 6 months and quit. I was someone making 90k yearly for several years. This is just a reality. Higher management needs traning asap. And insurance gets worse every year !
