Pros
Possibly that after this experience it will only get better.
Cons
CGI is certainly one of the worst employer in Canada. The situation may be different elsewhere so I cannot say to pass to everyone: I certainly suggest to pass if you live in Canada. I worked in the Montreal office for over 4 years. I sorely regret of staying so long. This is a company where directors are selected based on their chit-chat abilities in the corridors or food court. It is beyond me how such a mass of incompetents got promoted to positions well beyond their abilities. I guess this buys loyalty also because in my epxerience most people realize they arrived already above and beyond where they should really be. The technical personnel overall is good. Some are only "parked" there waiting for better opportunities hence they do not really sweat their butts and take their job as a 9-5 one. But overall I found the technical workforce enormously better than the managers/directors. If you accept to work here in canada, be aware that you are certainly paid below average and you will work in a messy environment which, if you take your job seriously, will lead you to a burnout. It is hoighly advisable to take it for what it is: just a job. Oh, I also forgot the frequent layoff waves. Those typically take place in November and March and someone has to go because they cannot make their numbers (also in light of irrealistic targets which incompetent managers accept). Not necessarily the lowest performers are cut, I witnessed some of the best performers laid off, most likely because they did not get entirely along with their boss (standing up to your boss is a no-no here). Do not say I did not warn you....
