Pros

Opportunities looked bright for a new brand with seemingly limitless possibilities for growth and strong (private) financial backing.

Cons

Understaffed corporate office ; sixty- seventy hour work weeks are the expectation for every employee I worked with- and no thanks or appreciation ever shown. Work loads are unmanageable and regular mistakes made by unqualified senior level team members (merchants and PD especially) trickle down to create even MORE work for everyone else. Inexperienced senior execs given too much power. Lack of process, broken systems and an overwhelmed HR office make for a miserable experience with no outlet provided for relief. Total lack of respect- not just for employees but also for vendors, suppliers, manufacturers- and worse yet: customers. Cheapest possible product marked up as much as the market will bear.

Pros

Really decent employee discount, cooperative customers, fun storefront and high-tech mobile POS systems that make checking out a TON easier, GREAT pay. The outer values - fun, expression, "affordable" high end - are wonderful and attract a great clientele.

Cons

Company has a policy where at least one manager has to be on the floor at all times - meaning several managers are on duty and all have different ways of doing things. Was told several ways to steam shirts by the three MODs and had to change my technique every time a different one was walking the floor. Management is two-faced and dishonest, did not know when I was being commended or if it was sarcastic. Catty is the word, I think. Customers, while usually nice (think rich mom from the Hamptons with her husband on a golfing trip), are demanding - you are expected to follow them around and cater to them, but do not get commission. Was told upon hiring they use a soft sell approach. Over the 3 months I worked there, more emphasis on selling until we were having contests. "Incentives" to sell more were cheapest item in the store. No holiday bonuses. Hours were ALL over the place - one week would have 35, the next 10. They introduced "on call" shifts so I could not have any plans. Small things: stockroom is dangerous. They expect you to climb on the shelves to get to the top. No upward mobility - they hire managers from outside.
