I read the first and only negative review about Business Tech Ninjas and decided to take a chance on the company anyway.
The vast majority of positive reviews have been left by new hires (under a year of experience with the company). There is a core group of 5-6 members who have been around longer than this, but everyone else is expendable and the turnover rate is high.
Passing a Myers-Briggs test is a must to be considered for any position within the company. I thought this to be a compelling icebreaker tactic until I realized that it is factored heavily into the recruitment process and is more than a gimmick to make the long-winded hiring process more personable. If you score a personality type that conflicts with the established members of the CEO, according to the 16 Personalities charts, you will not be given an opportunity to continue.
As a part-time contractor, you are expected to have the same level of promptness in response as a full-time employee. After you’ve been signed on with the company, you must answer a series of the same teambuilding questions every 2 weeks before you are able to submit an invoice.
CEO strongly discourages asking questions but gives exceptionally vague instruction. You will be reprimanded for asking too much. I found other employees were more than happy to answer my questions, however.
There is a real possibility that you will be replaced without warning; you won’t be outright fired, but instead strung along with the CEO suggesting that perhaps this isn’t the best fit for you. Be on the lookout for job postings for your position if you start feeling ostracized; this is likely intentional.
I would never dream of discounting the exceptionally hard work that those employed by the CEO have performed. Most everyone I met had been incredibly kind. I have absolutely no qualms with these folks.
I was fortunate enough to recognize the issues within the business early on and find a position with a more reputable company. Don’t settle for BTN if you have an opportunity to work somewhere credible.
If after reading this review you decide to take a chance on this company, go for it, and best of luck to you.
