Intern - Intern Business Education Compact Employee Review

Pros

They were able to match me with an internship that was valuable to my education and experience. Opportunity for all year (12 mo. internships) employment vs. a summer program.

Cons

The internship was not taken as seriously as if it were a program through the host company. Employees treated BEC interns as cheap labor vs. prospective college grad hires. Internship was good for networking, but had no indication of being a prospective path to full time employment.

Pros

The company got me placed at Intel, great way to get your resume building with little or no experience

Cons

As an intern you won't work with BEC at all, your experience may be reliant on a supervisor at a different company all together

Pros

I have worked as an Intern at Intel for more than a year through the BEC and it has been a great learning experience. It is easier to get your foot in the door if you apply through the BEC vs applying to Intel directly because competition is tough and not a lot of people know about the BEC.

Cons

Low Pay and No benefits. If your internship is at Intel, you are a classified as a contingent worker or "green badge." After your assignment is up, you must wait 6 months before you can apply for other green badge positions unless you apply through Intel directly.
