Pros
The environment at the college can be very laid back. The campus is scenic. People are nice. You can definitely develop relationships with co-workers that feel like family relationships.
Cons
They don't pay enough. I would hazard a guess and say everyone with the exception of hourly employees and upper management probably needs to make 15-20K more a year. The insurance is atrocious. It's not affordable at all for anyone besides an employee. It's also not anything like Blue Cross/Blue Shield. It's a self-pay kind of insurance plan that the Mission Health System has created. There isn't really a retirement contribution. Turnover is high. While it may be a family-like workplace, the campus is not family friendly. Insurance is too expensive for families. There is no paid maternity leave or anything like it. The "insurance" does not cover any sort of fertility treatment. I have not seen a single baby-changing table on campus; I'm sure there is one somewhere, but not in employee frequented areas. There is no lactation room.
