Pros

Border States offers a solid paid time off plan after you've been there awhile along with an employee stock ownership program. Monday through Friday with weekends off. Room to advance especially if you are willing to relocate. Small sales commission but it does add to your paycheck.

Cons

The bigger this company got the more you felt like a number on a page. Be nice to see a more equal salary between all the various positions. Some of the hardest working people at a branch level are paid the least.

Pros

ESOP - employee owned culture & fantastic retirement. Multiple verticals and great breadth of supplier support. Continued expansion offers more opportunities for customers and employees.

Cons

Pace of technology deployment and enhancement needs to be faster.

Pros

I worked there for 13 years. Not all for Border States. We ended up "Merging" with BS around 7 years into my Employment, With all of the hopes and dreams promised that culture would never change. In fact that is WHY they wanted us to be a part of their team. During my time there I really enjoyed the people that I worked around in my office, and learning new things and helping others.

Cons

Flash forward to the last 3 years of my employment with BS. We have moved into a new office that is 2-1/2 times further away than our original location was. Culture has taken a 180 degree turn(if you can call it a culture anymore) All of the sudden your weeks are more full of random "Lunch and Learn" meetings and various "what went wrong here office conversations". Management doesn't even have enough time to manage due to consistently being on conference calls with whatever new position the "Board" has decided to whip out of thin air.
