Pros

Most of the coworkers were passionate, intelligent people who I loved working with and seeing everyday. They were really the only good part of the company.

Cons

Overall, this was a toxic, unprofessional environment where higher management was inappropriate and the CEO would be aware, but overlook it. It was also extremely unorganized, with no specific budget set for any department, including marketing. The company also decided that marketing wasn't important in growing the company. Employees were told that collaboration was important, but were told to "stay in their lanes" when they tried. Writers were also limited in the content they could create, which led to a lot of repackaged content and not much original stuff. The company in general didn't know what its vision was and struggled with it. And one of the biggest problems was that they relied heavily on unpaid interns, which at the time outnumbered paid staff by more than double. The company right now is going through just interns as all paid employees were let go in June. We also worked in an "office" that is the CEO's apartment which is awkward.

This is from the previous iteration of Bookstr. It is under different management and different ownership. We are sorry that people had a bad experience.

Learning opportunities to prepare you for a full time job and equips you with necessary skills that apply to various fields. Great starting place for anyone wanting experience! Everyone is super friendly, helpful, and fun!

Cons

Sadly unpaid. (The currency is experience which is still important!)

Pros

Learning the behind the scenes of how a social media page runs. I enjoyed the collaborative environment, we were free to build ideas that we were interested in and get feedback from each other.

Cons

Unpaid, primarily for the experience
