Those in charge are efficient and helpful in dealing with issues, questions about pay, addressing concerns, meeting your needs.
Cons
The work is rewarding but difficult as it always is working with children. This makes it even more important to have a strong administrative staff. Each day is different and although the training is thorough, it’s overarching rather that specific to the many obstacles that you will face working with children.
The organization is trying to address some real issues in the city of San Francisco.
The work environment at the community center is high stress, with sometimes violent situations. I would suggest prospective employees really assess if this type of direct service environment will work for them. For those who have a passion for direct service there is the opportunity to make an impact.
Cons
I unfortunately didn’t feel safe in my role because my manager did not respect my boundaries and that is the reason I felt I had to leave.
