I have no faith in Bon Me's management.
Based on my impressions with the owners (who I didn't meet until last week), the managers (who I've spoken to four times in the past three months), I am confident that they value profit machine that is Bon Me over the well-being and treatment of their staff.
Miscommunication is frequent between all levels of the company. Supervisors, who oversee the trucks, often do not know how many people they will have/who they are working with until the last minute. Trucks themselves are often incorrectly packed or set-up prior to a breakfast/lunch/dinner shift. Management has failed to communicate outstanding concerns of the company with their subordinates, and instead try to sweep these problems under the rug with half-baked excuses. From false assurances to higher expectations to "greater" responsiblities or just plain ignorance or forgetfulness, I have seen management do everything and anything they can do to push their agendas forward.
One prominent example of this is my aformentioned of growth: whilst Bon Me was able to secure the areas and equipment for expansion, it failed to recognize that it needed more manpower to run these locations. As a result, Bon Me was understaffed for a good portion of the calender year, and required many staff members to work overtime. This also led to multiple occasions where a staff member's weekly avaliablity is disregarded simply because management needed someone to cover the shift for the time being.
Personal motivations and morale within the company are low, and the majority of the staff are fustrated, shocked, and/or angered at management and the company for their policies and overall treatment. Mistakes that happen are often careless and preventable, and I can't go by a week without hearing someone bring up a new example of Bon Me's ineptitude at work.
Oh, and the worst thing? A lot of this can be fixed. (See below). But I doubt management really cares.
Ultimately, my colleagues and I agree that these factors have created an unfair burden on the staff's shoulders, and is a reason why the turnover rate has remained consistently high despite a strong work community. Make no mistake that no one in the company has to work as hard as they do for as little as they are paid (but again cheap labor trumps all). As with most work hierarchies, things start from the top - and ultimately the only thing I can trust with Bon Me is that they will never be honest with me until it's my job on the line.
