Pros
Blue Origin has a singular focus of learning how to build better launch and space vehicles. The company is comprised of very bright and passionate engineers (and a few astronauts) who are given a remarkable amount of autonomy to innovate and improve technologies and processes for designing and building reusable launch and space vehicles. The management structure is relatively flat so that the company feels like a small start-up even as it grows past 500 employees. Being located in the Seattle area is a huge plus -- the Pacific Northwest is an amazing place.
Cons
Long hours are the norm at Blue Origin, but that is largely self-imposed. Striking a balance between work and other interests is challenging, but that is mostly because the work is so interesting, challenging, and rewarding. We are continually challenged to find innovative means to achieve aggressive schedules. Even with many outside interests, I find my mind constantly drawn back to what I am working on at Blue -- in a good way.
