Pros

Otley is actually quite a nice place, I can't really think of any other positives unfortunately. It's just not a very nice business to work for.

Cons

The results of this service are generally very poor, you will never be told how many roles actually get filled as the percentage is shocking Most of the businesses who are touted as clients no longer work with Blue Octopus There are nowhere near the resources they claim, that's both in terms of an internal team and job boards Even the admin team admit they don't fill many roles You will be told to tell fibs about advert responses Clients are offered little courtesy on internal emails They say that they differ from an agency culture but it's a little boys club with exclusive membership and the most 'non PC' environment you could imagine The commission structure is of benefit to only two people, it's unrealistic and based on nothing more than assumptions and guesswork There's nothing different about the service, actually there is, it's on average twice as expensive as the hundreds of other competitors You are not entitled to have an opinion There is absolutely no training and support They have the highest staff turnover of any company I have worked for and are certainly not growing by any stretch of the imagination Over 20 people have left the business this year alone by whatever means, that almost half They will never accept responsibility for any failings or listen to reason Staff morale is incredibly low Nobody has ever lasted in sales and even those who do well leave - do a search on linkedIn for this company as previous employer The staff bbq mentioned as a perk in one of the reviews written by the owners was 'compulsory' as was the need to contribute a minimum amount of money towards it - honestly guys, if your staff were honest, ask them how they felt about that if they aren't too scared to actually voice an opinion

Pros

Blue Octopus are a forward thinking, innovative company. They realise that their people are key to their success and they cultivate a friendly atmosphere, where everyone really cares about each other. Its great to be part of an organisation that has grown and seen many successes since 2010. Also, unusually in the recruitment world, they have an abundance of solid, long term relationships with clients, and many happy clients who enjoy benefiting from the honest, friendly and enthusiastic approach that the team here take to looking after them. Its really refreshing to be part of, in an industry that can otherwise be quite cut throat. Very different from your typical city centre agency. I feel that working here, you can be 100% yourself at work as well as feeling truly valued and inspired to be the best that you can be.

Cons

If you are looking to work for a more 'agency-like' company and want to be part of a recruitment world that involves late night partying, city living, champagne drinking and splashing cash around, this isn't the right place for you. However, on the plus side, I would say that as long as you honestly want to work hard, look after people and do things properly, you will find an extremely rewarding career here.

Pros

There is a great togetherness. We all work hard to reap the benefit of being one of the leading online recruitment service providers in the UK. Our technology is second to none and helps everyone within the business, clients and candidates to get the most out of the recruitment process. All members of the team are great to get on with and we have an award winning spirit. Senior Management and the Directors are great people to work with too. They provide full support whenever you need it so you're never left to one side and forgotten about.

Cons

Unfortunately there have been some very negative people in the past as I can see on the reviews earlier on this profile. Majority are so called sales people who talk the talk but can't do the walk. They think they can just waltz in, take no notice of the Senior Management and Directors training programme and advice then produce sales however when they fail, they just decide it's down to the company's excellent and award winning services and also down to the Senior Management and Directors training which couldn't be further from the truth!
