Pros

Eclectic group of folks and some talented people! Leadership cares, appear genuine in their values and seem to want to improve…

Cons

…to the point that they’re bleeding talent and can’t find the right people to fill open roles. New hires are not bought into the culture and do not understand the core principles of the business and it’s mission. Middle management is under-resourced and under appreciated. Promotions come slow or not at all, even when promise of fair review. Compensation is lower than industry average. Titles are confusing and do not translate well. Poor change management is crippling positive growth. Projects are often underbid and teams work longer than billable hours to meet project requirements with little resources. Teams are disbursed making collaborating and communicating difficult. Senior leadership bottlenecks all major operational decisions and meddles / micromanages their directors.

Bixal Response

Thank you for your feedback. Bixal has grown quickly, more than double in the past two years, and it is an exciting time that brings new opportunities and challenges. This year we’ve reflected on that growth and are prioritizing our people, values and mission, and we agree that supporting our teams through this change, enabling and empowering people at all levels, and enhancing paths to success at Bixal are key. This past quarter, we launched an expanded benefits package including increased paid parental leave, a new career level and band structure, training for various levels of management, improved professional development, and an onboarding program pilot to more fully integrate new team members into the Bixal culture, with many more enhancements to come! We are a growing, people-first company, and we are passionate about and dedicated to fostering Bixal as an outstanding place to work. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

Pros

Bixal has been one of the most collaborative and mission-driven places I’ve worked. The company really invests in its people and gives engineers the space to grow. The DevOps and cloud infrastructure work here is interesting and impactful — you get to modernize federal systems using AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines, all while improving security and automation at scale. What stands out most is the balance of technical excellence and human-centered values. Teams communicate well, leadership genuinely listens, and the focus on quality work over bureaucracy makes a huge difference. It’s a place where you can do real engineering work that matters while still having work-life balance. Pros: supportive leadership, remote flexibility, meaningful mission, modern tech stack, and smart teammates. Cons: projects can move fast and sometimes priorities shift, but it’s part of working in a dynamic federal environment. Overall: Bixal is a great fit if you enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems with purpose, and want to grow alongside kind, talented people.

Cons

Federal govt is help bent on imploding itself due to politics putting work stability at risk, no fault of Bixal.
