Pros

Bison is run by a passionate and involved Owner who is invested in the business in every aspect. He cares about every step of the process and how his products are created. The employees are close, and they all care about their work. Most of them have been there for a long time, making it a close-knit environment. They all work very hard, as it is still a small-business feel and operation. There's a variety of products and a lot of quirks that make selling the products fun and engaging. You also get an employee discount which is a perk.

Cons

The building could use some renovations.

Thanks for your wonderful feedback. Yes, our 1957 building seems to need some maintenance. Two lady's washrooms were renovated this year with modern flooring, etc. They love it!

Pros

Family-like and very friendly culture, from top to bottom Management that feels accessible and is very communicative with all levels of employees Great work-life balance Awesome history and 30+ years of local presence in Colorado Constantly innovating new outdoor products and the founder communicates regularly with employees to hear their feedback and ideas for product development Many of the product lines are made in the USA and/or assembled in house Fair wages and regular evaluation for pay increase Ethical sourcing of imported materials and labor where applicable Great PTO and full benefits Cool product line and stand behind the quality of all products sold

Cons

Factory building is a bit dated, but has character (old vending machines, appliances, decor, etc.)

You are so kind with your support for our Bison family business! Yes, our metal building was built in the 60's, so it isn't a 21st century modern building. Yes, we did renovations 20 years ago, and then we renovated again ten years ago, and we just began renovations again this year with two lady's bathrooms. Time flies around here, because it is a pleasure to work with our fun staff. Cheers!

Pros

Decent product (belts) Employs more people than it should because of the labor intense processes and touching things multiple times

Cons

Product offerings lack focus and suffer because of it "Innovation" - nope. Production straight out of the 1940's Poor communication Misrepresentation of benefits Hostile work environment Dangerous - PPE and workplace safety laws overlooked Filthy and disorganized Great lengths gone to in attempt to make products appear American Made, but most are imported Owner actually brags about sneaking products into America from China/Vietnam in his travel luggage. (paracord bracelets, belts, chalk, etc.) without having to pay duties/taxes.

Pros: Thanks for recognizing our awesome belt products! Cons: Wow, only a few weeks with our Bison family and such remarks. We have over 6,000sku's / products in our catalog. Yes, that's a lot! Innovation....We have multiple custom designed production machines, and...….we have over 200 patents filed for, awarded, or expired....and, as the owner, I was a guest speaker for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington D.C. one time and spoke twice in Denver......because of our extensive innovation experience. As the owner, I always have an open door to all staff members. Bison has a great benefits package with generous vacation time, 401 matching contributions and health care, all clearly outlined and explained annually. Most of our employees have been with Bison from 7 - 26 years! We have enjoyed re-hiring many employees that returned from other obligations to return to our family friendly environment. No laws are overlooked at Bison, and we have inspections done with major vendors and customers annually to verify our compliance. Our facility is cleaned regularly. We do produce climbing chalk products that are dusty, and we clean there too. Virtually all of our cut and sewn products are made or assembled in our factory. And many of them may have imported parts. Each product is labeled accordingly. I am the owner and I travel extensively and report and clear 100% of our Bison products through customs, period! This remark is seriously wrong and uninformed, as U.S. customs clears travelers belongings with less than $700 in value without charging duty as a courtesy to our U.S. citizens. All travelers can benefit from this courtesy. Bison hasn't imported any of its products from Vietnam. My advice to all folks, don't make up stories, be happy!
