Pros
Biltmore is a nice company to work for. Like any company with many departments, your experience will be impacted by your manager. Overall the company culture is positive. The commute to work could not be more beautiful - a paradise in the middle of Asheville. Biltmore employees get perks including discounts on purchases, dining, and lodging (including a friends and family lodging rate) on the Estate, free access to the grounds, free Biltmore House tickets, staff meals (for food and beverage staff members), and other amenities including complimentary wine tastings and profit sharing bonuses. Promotion from within is definitely encouraged and there are a range of leadership training and mentorship programs for staff seeking to move up. Furthermore, Biltmore is a very desirable company to have on your resume.
Cons
Depending upon your department, salaries are often below the local cost of living. Guests have high expectations. You may work long hours during the busy Christmas at Biltmore (Candlelight) season. Upward mobility can be limited beyond the Supervisor level due to the small size of the company.
