Pros
The nature of closeout retail & constantly changing product, the sincerely hard-working associates - specifically part-timers, the promise of better communication/structure from Big Lots to stores (formerly LW Outlet & Liquidation World).
Cons
Big Lots was unable to provide sufficient communication, culture and organizational changes to stores, and were strictly product driven, not people driven. They were more interested in how many mattresses you had in-stock than how many associates got a performance review, merit increase, clean working conditions, etc. On the flip side, the store management had been so poorly managed, that ANY change was beyond their scope of adapting. They were so used to being left alone (and yet still complained about it...), however they resisted anything that meant they couldn't just show up. Managing there was like trying to teach a dog to ride a bike - the expectations and support were unrealistic from Big Lots, and the Store Mgmt lacked the skills/capability to execute anything outside of their self imposed routine.
