Pros

This is not a place where attorneys yell at you or you have to complete tasks such as making copies from them. Health insurance is completly paid for.

Cons

This firm is run very ineffectively and there is a disconnect between the supervisor and the attorney in regards to work load. This firm operates through micromanaging and pressure. Your every action is watched to the extent that if you're 1 minute late on logging an activity in the system then you are immediately emailed by the supervisor. However, the supervisor has no knowledge of what tasks you may need to complete for the attorney (which are more pressing). There is a constant pull and lack of understanding. One paralegal was responsible for the day-to-day and court deadlines of 1,000 clients in addition to two other litigations. This is way to much for one paralegal. In a 7 month time period 5 people were fired or either quit. The firm is a revolving door. The majority of the workers are fresh out of college and living with their parents. The firm's goal is to hire those who will accept the lowest salary to replace those who are making more. There are weekly meetings under the guises of having a floor for open dialogue, but it is a place in which the supervisor is given a forum to bully the paralegals and ask them why they are not completing all tasks when they are already overburdened. Sick and vacation days start after 4 months. 17 days given in total. No overtime. You are repremanded if you work over your regular hours or through lunch. Although there is too much work to complete during 9-5. Please avoid for your own benefit.

Pros

As my first post-grad job, I couldn't have asked for a better place to start. I was always able to ask questions about tasks, work, the legal field. Everyone is very kind and easy to talk to. The firm is normally a very calm, comfortable environment. There was flexibility in scheduling and remote options at times, which I really appreciated while preparing for the LSAT. Overtime opportunities as well during the busier season. Overall, very happy with my time at BL.

Cons

The nature of a job like this is generally monotonous at times, which can be initially hard to adjust to. It can be exciting whenever a new case or deadline comes along to shake things up.

Pros

Was consistent and reliable as a first paralegal role.

Cons

Didn’t learn very much that’s actually applicable to being a paralegal anywhere else. No challenges
