Pros
Great family atmosphere aside from upper management. Coworkers make working at Benson bearable. Perks like Beer Cart Friday which is typically every few months and an outdoor break area with ping pong table and cornhole.
Cons
-No defined career path. Benson isn’t focused on developing talent they have in the building. -Limited opportunity for career advancement unless you are a direct favorite of the leadership team. Promotions at Benson aren’t typically based on merit as much as they are based on pure luck and/or being friends with someone on leadership team. -Compensation is extremely low for the workload and expectations. Leadership claims that the compensation levels are based on market research but then claim Benson to be a pioneer as to what is provided to the client. So what market is being referred to exactly if they are alone in the market as they claim? -The “leadership” team seems to care more about the image of being a great place to work than actually being a great place to work. -Departments are inadequately staffed to handle the pressure and chaos of the expectations of the leadership team. -Upper management is apathetic towards employees and their ability to live a work-life balance. Production employees are expected to work extremely long hours to meet unrealistic timelines. This could be challenged if staffing was adequate and if management cared for employees more than they cared about getting a brochure sent out a few hours early. -More should be done to prioritize retaining valuable employees. They blame high turnover on the job market when in reality it has more to do with Benson’s leadership team. The lack of faith that employees have in parts of the leadership team is what is causing a massive number of employees to begin looking elsewhere for a better career opportunity.
