Pros
A+ for culture, people, environment, etc. It's a smaller company so you're constantly in direct contact with senior management & they're all extremely kind, helpful, and patient. I experienced 0 toxicity, which is a worry with most startups, but the people here were consistently great- especially Todd and Jordan whom I had the most interaction with. There's no shame in asking questions (something I had to get used to); they're always wiling to give guidance and walk you through any tasks you have doubts over. Flexible with school; you build your own hours. Opportunity to receive a return offer, either again as an intern or as a full-time employee. Really good for career development. You will learn A LOT about the industry and you're given the opportunity to do real-time work across various departments which gives you a very solid skillset. I can say firsthand that this internship definitely helped kickstart my career and opened the door for future opportunities. Recruiters loved hearing about how I worked for a startup in the alternative data space- it was unique and interesting. 100% recommend
Cons
No major cons, just some things to keep in mind: Workload: There are a mix of slow vs. hectic periods. Lots of work that can get backlogged when the company is approaching an event. But on some days, you'll log on and only have 1-2 tasks. I don't even really consider this a con either, though. The workload reflects the natural ebbing and flowing of what's available & urgent. Duties: Some of the tasks are tedious busywork type things, but that's any internship. Mostly, the projects are real and impactful. Separately, the way that the responsibilities are divided is mostly unstructured. Sometimes, tasks are assigned directly to you. Other times, the tasks are assigned to all, and are to be taken on a first come, first serve basis. If you struggle with time management or taking initiative, this aspect of the job might be difficult for you. Pay: Could definitely be upped, but it's a newer, smaller company so it's understandable. I'm not one to usually say something like this, but the experience & good culture basically make up for it.
