Pros

The pro is definitely the team, which is a bunch of young, extremely friendly, international and dynamic people. It is an exciting place to work, with interesting projects progressing at a nice pace.

Cons

The CEO. Although he has improved since the first reviews in 2015, this guy still behaves like a 4 year old. That goes from slightly annoying everyday behaviour, like riding a scooter in the office, keeping his cycling gear on all day and occasionally being a bit abrupt to some people, to more serious stuff. He would decide one day that we should work on a project that is going to make millions and drop it 2 months later just at the time when it is just about to work. He would occasionnaly sack people for no reason (or because he does not like them?) or give a project to someone because he likes him, not because he is the most qualified. Last bit, I am slightly suspicious that men are considered better, though there is no obvious anti-women behaviour. It just seems that men get promoted a bit more than women: the leading team is all men. Members of the board (5), CEO, COO, project managers (3).... maybe it is just bad luck?

Pros

Base4 is a start-up company with ambitious goals and a staff of incredibly talented people. It's an inspiring place to work and is small enough that there's loads of scope to get involved in new things. It suits scientists and software designers who want to push the boundaries of what's possible and get involved in really creative problem solving. Nothing run of the mill about the company or the team who work there. If you're keen to get into the business/enterprise side of science this is a great option because the small size of the company means you get to experience the business stuff as well as the science. It's a friendly, sociable place to work with great perks (e.g., private medical) and lovely offices.

Cons

Might not suit those who like rigid step-by-step way of working - it's exciting and intellectually challenging which I guess can be intimidating for some. Small company means not so many promotion options, but that really doesn't matter because there's loads of scope to add to your CV while working there.
