Pros

Coworkers are great, as they are going through the same you have to go through.

Cons

Extremely unorganized in all aspects. Poorly kept & small living arrangements for employees - rooms inside the riding arena that don't even have windows. Money-hungry management that will do anything to make more money, yet are not employee oriented. Pay is docked 30% unless a certain amount of hours is reached, no overtime pay unless you work more than 55 hours per week. No paid holidays, if you take the day off for the holiday you're still required to reach 40 hours that week. Job description & contract are extremely shady. Management will tiptoe around the true details in order to get someone in the position, once position is filled however duties change and the atmosphere changes. Beautiful scenery, but not even a real ranch. Knowledge of properly caring for horses is poor - way too many horses crammed into pastures meant for maybe up to 3 horses. If you're looking to be a part of a true operating ranch, look elsewhere.

Pros

Beautiful views, great people, great trails. Head wrangler Lindsay is incredible!

Cons

Management at the time I was there was terrible, food was hardly edible and often gave me food poisoning, old owner was terrible. Hours are not always consistent (but who is used to getting off on time when working with horses?).

Pros

Guests were for the most part awesome.

Cons

When Bar W purchased Whitefish outfitters the culture changed. It was no longer fun. The owners never made any attempt to compensate the guides for an additional 50 minutes per day due to longer travel distances required based on the new location. 3 senior guides lecture to a mandatory tip sharing scheme to boost underpaid non customer facing staff. So your tip becomes everybody’s. Very unfair for this industry. Lastly, after 6 years with WFO it was worth it to walk away from this company who could care less about their employees.
