Pros

- some great teammates - fun space in entrepreneurship, tech, and finance - could be great

Cons

- dysfunctional founder relationships leading to confused teams - losing sight of what customers care about - fighting and lack of accountability carries from founders down the ranks - some blatant toxicity, lack of respect - either no accountability or micromanagement - women don't last in leadership

Pros

All places have some pros. Some good people on team and in member base. Some interesting stuff. Fine work/life.

Cons

I personally wouldn’t recommend this role based on my experience. The environment felt heavily oriented toward credit, and for someone not coming from that background, it often felt like priorities outside of credit came second and other areas were the first to get heat. From my perspective in sales, that made things feel challenging trying to balance growth goals while trying to align with credit expectations, and navigating what I perceived as a less than ideal experience for borrowers. Some former teammates who moved to other lenders shared with me that they personally felt better in their new roles. During my time, it felt like there was frequent change within the team and leadership, which created a sense of uncertainty, especially for sales folks. Overall, I found it to be a difficult environment to keep energy in. I felt this could make make sense for someone specifically interested in learning about credit who couldn't otherwise get a more traditional finance job, but it wasn’t the right fit for me. I also learned from a finance friend about valuing equity more accurately, shares divided by total shares, VC's getting paid first, etc., and for me personally, I didn't see upside worth the tradeoff. With newer leadership, I hoped it would get better but personally felt less motivated over time and felt that selling became increasingly challenging. Again, just sharing my own experience and perspective.
