Pros

There are great people at the company, and many employees genuinely care about the science and the work.

Cons

In my experience, there was little to no formal structure for performance reviews, career development, or professional growth. Advancement opportunities were unclear, compensation appeared to be below market for the level of experience and responsibility expected, and there was no meaningful bonus structure. There was also limited flexibility, including little to no flex time, which made work-life balance more difficult. This was especially frustrating given the level of responsibility and expectations placed on employees. There was a high level of micromanagement from leadership, which made it difficult for employees to work independently or feel trusted in their roles. Priorities often shifted, communication was limited, and there was not enough transparency around long-term planning or employee retention. HR support was also disappointing. Processes were not always clear, communication felt inconsistent, and employee concerns did not always feel meaningfully addressed. This contributed to a lack of trust and made it harder to feel supported as an employee.

Pros

- Exceptional scientists and researchers with deep expertise and genuine passion for the science. - Dedicated colleagues who consistently work hard and support one another. - Interesting scientific challenges and opportunities to learn from highly talented peers.

Cons

- Executive leadership fosters a culture where alignment with leadership is often valued more than expertise, critical thinking, or constructive challenge. - Employees who speak up, question decisions, or offer alternative perspectives may find themselves discouraged or reprimanded rather than heard. - Historically, career growth opportunities have been very limited. Recent advancement opportunities appear driven more by employee turnover than by investment in employee development. - Compensation is generally below market for the level of experience expected and the local biotech market, with no meaningful bonus program to recognize performance. - Decision-making lacks transparency and is concentrated within a small leadership circle. - Leadership frequently talks about culture, values, and employee engagement, but those messages are undermined by behaviors that create fear, discourage open dialogue, and erode trust. - There is a noticeable gap between the culture that is promoted and the culture employees experience.
