Fun, hands-on, and full of purpose as a Host, Coach, and Team Leader. You spend your day helping staff and customers, solving problems, and actually feeling useful. The culture is generally great, people are outgoing and friendly. If you’re shy, this job will definitely bring you out of your shell. I found host, coach and team leader roles to be ideal uni jobs while I finished my uni degree.
Cons
Getting promoted to Assistant Venue Manager/Venue Administrator felt like being promoted into a cage unfortunately. Nearly every day was repetitive admin work with no real power to make change. I took the role under the assumption that I would have the ability to significantly improve staffing levels, but after realising that the company wouldn't budge on the budget I mentally began to check out, it was extremely demotivating. It taught me that an increase in responsibility (often mostly admin) often comes wrapped in a false sense of power to make change.
