Pros
Above average remuneration. Incredible opportunities for professionals to develop and learn. Mobility options offer diversity of experience and flexibility. The money available to spend on learning, recognition, team building etc. is well above the norm. The complexity of the organization provides many avenues and opportunities for career advancement. Understanding of the importance of safety.
Cons
Cynical and greedy attitude of employees. Employees may be tainted as being an underperformer never to recover their reputation. There is a lack of balance encouraged so that people have a life outside work, due to high remuneration. Bureaucratic and prone to making big decisions and implementing systems and processes at great expense, only to change it 12 months later. Commitment to safety can sometimes become a little grey when production is down and June 30 looming. Shareholder satisfaction is ALWAYS of higher priority than employees. There are many 'leaks' that mean decisions that should be confidential are seen coming by employees well before something official is communicated. Often the void of transparent communication leads to high dissatisfaction and healthy cynicism.
