Pros
Veteran employees who still believe in what BECU used to stand for, hanging on in hopes that the company changes course from its current direction back to its original current values.
Cons
BECU was once a leader within the credit union industry, but recent priorities have shifted toward image and company expansion rather than generally caring for their employees. Leadership has shown to have a lack of humility and empathy which has created a terrible environment for dedicated hardworking employees that are being taken for granted. The culture of leadership is disconnected from the everyday struggles of the staff. Simple gestures of free lunch, or small events are used to boost morale, but often highlight inequity. It’s more a facade to appear caring, when in reality staff are left unsupported and unheard. The very people keeping the company working. Finally, employees are consistently encouraged to go above and beyond job expectations, which in and of itself is reasonable, however the average employee sees no such reward, recognition, or advancement after sacrificing their own financies, time and well being. Any such request from the staff for balance or fairness is often met with deflection and gaslighting.
