Pros
I've been with Azul for a number of years in a sales role, enterprise. I am making WAY MORE money than at my previous four companies (3 huge established tech companies everyone would know and one start up). We have grown considerably the last 4 years, The people who helped start Azul are mostly still here and very involved. That PLUS the new leadership and we are growing, managing the chaos, having fun and making serious money. If you want to work strategic accounts (the same 30-40 companies you've always sold to) this isn't the place for you. But if you can network, pitch, hunt & sell you will make serious money here.
Cons
Getting the word out with Marketing is tough. No one's fault, and a small company solving such a huge problem that no one else is addressing is likely why positioning ourselves is so hard. We have almost no competition, prospects have to be informed about how we solve their OpenJDK & Java TCO license issues and our presence as well as our solutions is fairly often completely unknown. The tide is turning, but it is taking a while for IT decision makers to understand the problem - and our solution.
