Pros

* Remote work * Most of the peons were pretty great

Cons

* Bottom tier management and C-suite. You know it's bad when the CEO and CTO are related. * Awful product * Will jerk employees around in shady and questionably legal ways * Most people above individual contributor were a**holes

Pros

A genuinely friendly and respectful culture makes working at Axoni enjoyable. The company prioritizes work-life balance, contributing to a stress-free and pleasant workplace. Regular team meetings and collaborative projects encourage active participation and knowledge sharing. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package with generous vacation and time-off policies.

Cons

While the acquisition by LSEG offers new opportunities, it has also resulted in considerable restructuring at Axoni. This has included a significant reduction in staff and a downsize of the New York office. This has introduced uncertainty regarding future job opportunities and potential changes in the company's direction.

Pros

* Salary * scala FP shop * they hire good solo engineers.

Cons

I've never even seen a coworker be fired once at any other company. This one I went from a team of 15 engineers to 4 during my time. Some of it was layoffs, but after every layoff the CEO would stand there in the company meeting and say "sorry about the layoffs, the team we JUST FIRED PEOPLE FROM has been delayed so we are missing revenue we planned for and have to downsize". You can't make this up and it's entirely the senior leadership driving it. The process went on for two years before I'd had enough (I need the scala experience) ; ), each time, "This time we're going to be profitable!" followed by layoffs, followed by a COMPLETELY predictable additional investment or loan. The person in charge has no idea what state any of their projects are in and are planning out their years on estimates that haven't been updated in... years. To say that this is the worst job I have ever had is an understatement. I went from being the laid back person on every team to ending up in the ER feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack. I'm starting to readjust to a team that's not actively trying to drive me off but every time I neurotically run back to my computer to check slack I realize how messed up the experience was. What purpose can you serve as an engineer if Slack is that much of a presence in your day?
