Pros

It was remote. The pay was good.

Cons

There's a lot. But be aware that individual engineers are judged solely on made up metrics like velocity (which is a team metric, that should tell you everything). You will get dinged and let go if you aren't meeting whatever number of the week they've decided on for velocity. Doesn't matter if you are blocked, stuck, etc. They don't care why your numbers are low and don't value feedback on how to make things better so numbers are higher. The company is the definition of churn and burn. If I could have given this place less than 1 star I would have. That's how bad it is. Below are some specifics: -Toxic work environment: decisions are driven by favoritism, politics, and gossip rather than actual performance or merit. -No accountability: leadership protects their favorites, while others get punished or pushed out for minor things. No warning, no PIP, no nothing. Just gone. -Constant blame shifting: problems are never addressed at the root. Instead, individuals are scapegoated. If you bring up problems and push for change, you will be pushed out the door. Other reviews have noted the same thing. -Lack of transparency: communication from leadership is vague, inconsistent, or outright misleading. Employees are left guessing what’s really going on. -Fear-based culture: people are afraid to speak up and/or make mistakes because it can cost them their job. -Unrealistic expectations: management demands more and more without providing the tools, support, or staffing needed to succeed. -Micromanagement and control: instead of empowering employees, leadership threatens and nitpicks. -No clear career growth: little to no support for professional development or advancement. -High turnover: good employees don’t stick around, which says a lot. The revolving door makes projects harder to maintain. -Outdated systems and processes: constant technical debt, legacy code, and bandaid fixes instead of real solutions. Running the code locally often resulted in random things breaking, even one day to the next. Several of us were unable to do anything for 4 days because something broke outside our control. This was frequently a problem, always something different. Onboarding took a full week to get the environment setup and "working". It's the worst thing I've ever seen in 2.5 decades of doing this work. -Morale is low: people are burned out, undervalued, and not motivated. -Healthcare/benefits: Absolute garbage. Worst I've seen.

Pros

The core software actually does what it is supposed to do for the most part. It has a lot of potential if you strip away all the noise happening behind the scenes, and you can see why clients initially buy into the platform. You get to work with some really solid peers who are just trying to put their heads down and survive the day to day. There are some incredibly talented developers and product people in the trenches making things happen despite the chaos. Honestly, coming up with a third distinct positive is tough when things are this messy. The baseline benefits and compensation are at least average for the industry, and the paycheck clears on time.

Cons

Promotion paths are completely non existent unless you happen to be part of the inner circle. The culture is heavily driven by favoritism and nepotism rather than actual merit, so working hard and delivering results rarely translates to moving up the ladder. The environment is incredibly unprofessional at the top. I have been on calls where grown adults in leadership positions at each other in front of the team, creating a wildly toxic atmosphere that absolutely hurts morale. The product north star changes every four to six weeks based on whichever client is yelling the loudest, leaving the team constantly reacting instead of building a strategic roadmap. Nobody knows what is going on, and zero people take ownership of their mess.
