Pros

1. Strong management team, financial backing 2. Advanced & proven technology 3. Strong, executable business plan 4. Demonstrated results 5. Brand name satisfied customer base 6. Professional, A level team

Cons

As with all early stage companies, the size of the sales force and ability to maximize the market window in time is always of concern. The economy for storage is strong but with acquisitions of mid-size companies by the tier 1 companies left a hole for the channel to make acceptable margins. The hole is slow to fill but new companies.

Pros

If you want to be part of a team pushing the envelope in bringing new technology to market, this is the company for you. Like most good tech start-ups, Avere has a fast-paced development cycle that doesn't get bogged down in minutiae or politics. The engineering team is top-notch and most have done this before. In addition, this is the founding CEO's third company, so not only is he not learning the ropes of building a company, but is passionate about the technology as well. Company and team is well respected in the storage industry and has the backing of Silicon Valley VCs, a rarity in Pittsburgh.

Cons

Don't expect a glamorous facility, company HQ is located in suburban office building that has basic office decor with no frills. It's a start-up, so if you can't or won't put maximum effort into your work, this would not be the environment for you (nor good for the company). Company provides tons of free junk food/snacks - the breakroom looks like you stumbled into a convenience store. So if you like to eat healthy, you have to bring your own.
