Pros

Real friendships made under strain

Cons

Individual staff members are systematically targeted with unreasonable, ever-changing demands and threats, creating conditions so psychologically damaging that resignation or dismissal becomes inevitable. This is directly from the leadership team of two. This has happened time and time again over a period of years, despite frequent assertions that things are changing or these are “bad patches”. Some staff play along or perpetuate this. Eventually, though, even the loyal fall out of favour and are purged – including this year those who were only a matter of weeks before “best friends” with leadership or who contributed most to business successes. The leadership pair disparages those who have left to remaining staff. Because of this, the turnover is extreme. They bring in a series of well-regarded, talented people, motivated by promises about mission and culture that turn out to be false. When people leave because of the values and toxicity they are often immediately banished and it is blamed on them – sometimes without even a mention – other staff are left to work out what on earth has happened. Disrespect is pervasive: the way the leadership team talk about their colleagues, ex-colleagues and clients around the office is shockingly unprofessional. They misrepresent their values and expertise on the website, LinkedIn and during hiring. In my direct experience, consultant credentials were misrepresented to clients. Talk of “high standards” and “radical candour” is used to excuse bullying that is nothing to do with standards. This is not a serious organisation. There is no accountability or checks & balances. The firm is a vehicle for leadership's impulses rather than a professionally-run business. Anyone who wonders whether this can be true: look back before the new name, to old LinkedIn posts, reach out to ex (or current) colleagues. If you scratch beneath the self-congratulation to see the wild turnover, regular unjustified demotions, and abandoned “exciting new directions” – you’ll get a sense of a deeply problematic history that speaks of something both sinister and laughable.

Pros

Decent office location Decent pay Good colleagues

Cons

Terrible leadership. The worst I have ever come across. Absolutely mean senior leadership. Constantly gaslighting and demeaning you. Say they want one thing, you deliver it and they then change the goal post and then humiliate you. They mask this under the guise of “we have high standards, if you can’t meet our high standards, you won’t like it here” Colleagues that have guts and can see right from wrong, try to call it out but the senior team shuts this down. They are therefore choose to protect their peace and resign from the firm. They keep changing their company strategy, sectors they work in etc every week. There is no consistency. A lot of wasted effort ALL OTHER POSTS WITH HIGH RATINGS ARE FAKE

Pros

They attract exceptional people. The organisation is successful in hiring individuals who are kind, intelligent, and highly capable, and many of the colleagues I worked with were genuinely supportive and talented. This has resulted in a strong network of alumni who continue to do impressive work elsewhere. The pay and bonus structure can be competitive on paper, particularly for those who are able to negotiate favourable terms when joining.

Cons

Senior leadership often spoke negatively about colleagues and former employees openly, which created an uncomfortable and unprofessional atmosphere. Recognition practices often singled out individuals from team efforts in ways that diminished the contributions of others. This left many team members feeling undervalued, despite their meaningful input and hard work. There was a noticeable culture of blame rather than development. Feedback frequently focused on shortcomings without sufficient support or constructive guidance. This environment contributed to the departure of many capable and talented individuals, some of whom left without alternative roles due to the impact on their wellbeing. Leadership support and treatment of staff felt inconsistent. There were visible disparities in recognition, rewards, and opportunities, which contributed to perceptions of favouritism and inequity. Workload and pressure were unnecessarily high due to poor resourcing and leadership. Staff frequently worked long hours and weekends to keep up, with little acknowledgement or meaningful action to address the underlying issues. There was no independent HR function, and employees did not have a clear, neutral channel for escalating grievances. Concerns could only be raised with senior leadership themselves, which made it difficult to feel safe or supported when issues arose. Overall, the culture did not consistently foster psychological safety, trust, or long-term professional growth.
