The benefits, and cost of benefits seem to be good.
Cons
Terrible work/life balance, which is a result of under staffing, and in some cases the developer is fully responsible for all of the design, develop, testing, support of not only the software applications, but also all of the hardware, and is then responsible for 24/7 production support... and all of this for below market salary. No quiet space for development, and required to be on-site, etc.
