Pros

Teaching children life skills and encouraging independence. Flexibility and structure with session schedules but also focusing on client's engagement in comfort. Alright pay and accruing PTO.

Cons

Cuts in budget making it so the clinic no longer provides paper cups for clients. Asked for materials to aid in therapy are never forthcoming. High turn over due to RBT burn-out and lack of being listened to. Lack of concern over safety of RBTs and fellow clients from supervisors. Lack of communication with schedule changes. Lack of hours. No communication with the schools.

Pros

In general, the job is easy. You run your program, look for triggers for behaviors, and learn to avoid them. If you or the client is having an "off day" you can "pair" all day aka play/relax.

Cons

Very little training, practically no materials provided for in home services. trying to get any materials is like pulling teeth. BCBAs seem to have a high enough churn rate as one client has had 3 bcbas in less than a year. Benefits are a joke. It's not worth being full time.
