Pros
I workd fully remote, which was a big plus having small kids. Colleagues were great and there was awesome team spirit and shared mission. Product is market leading and the team is full of super talented and driven individuals. Pay was great, and there were lots of benefits.
Cons
- Working fully remote and far from territory was rather lonely and led to burnout. - Edtech is a very competitive space with new changes happening rapidly, especially due to AI. This can lead to a sense of insecurity. - New sales framework shifted focus to more in-person visits at schools and running trials in person, which is great, but not super viable if you have family commitments. Ie. had a very successful and talented colleague (young, still living at home with parents) who travelled from Sydney to Brisbane for days at a time, 7 out of 10 weeks, staying several nights in hotels. His efforts were lauded and results from this created new expectations for the sales team.
