Don’t Believe the FAKE Reviews – this is a HORRIBLE place to work - Sales Representative Ascentis Employee Review

Pros

- nice new office in MN (to keep up with the "appearance is everything" approach) - a few great people (who are underappreciated like the rest of us)

Cons

The joke among Ascentis employees is that the reason our executives and sales leadership never honestly engage our sales team on our never-ending product and process problems is that they are too busy writing glowing reviews about themselves at Glassdoor. Don’t believe them. Before I joined the company, I heard from others about what a great company it was, a company with a fun group of people who worked together to solve problems for their clients and each other. But as many others have commented here, those days quickly evaporated when Summit Partners put in their new CEO and he in turn brought in his friends and former co-workers to “lead” us from Minnesota. Many great long-term executives, managers and teammates soon left and those who didn’t were obviously pushed out....... oh and there's never an announcement, they just disappear and in their place come more friends of the CEO whether they are capable or not. A few examples include a so-called Chief Marketing Officer who has done everything but marketing and a new west region sales director who has spent more time working to fire people (even those outside his department) than actually working in the field with his reps to understand the day-to-day struggles we face. The arrogance of this team is intolerable and has replaced the good that was here. With each firing comes a new Minnesota-based employee. The sales team is much younger now and leadership is moving toward a MN-based sales call center rather than a field sales approach that the position requires. Support and even friendliness toward the remote salesforce is decreasing and many of us are just waiting for the call from HR. The departures have left us with zero product knowledge from management and little help with client issues. Deals are much smaller than they used to be and harder than ever to close due to the product’s dated technology but don’t ever say this out loud or you will be deemed as a non-team player. They say they are going to fix it all but nothing much so far. Too busy writing fake reviews I guess.

A great company to work for- Very people focused and the environment is collaborative.

Cons

Struggled with standards for project management practices, but was open to creating new process improvements.

Pros

Benefits are decent. Many teams still have good and hard-working people that want to succeed.

Cons

Unless you are desperate for a job, do not work here! The product is incredibly outdated and while there has been a significant investment in the product, it is so far behind the times any improvements will never catch-up to be something competitive. Clients consistently tell you they were sold a Cadillac and were delivered a Pinto. Sales has to be deceptive for any sales to occur and then the client is stuck with something that barely works for them until they live out their contract. Executive Management touts 'Cultural Norms' which look great on paper but they themselves do not follow them. Unless you are a buddy to the 'leadership' team in the Minneapolis area, your career opportunities will be limited. Do you think hard work and dedication will provide a pay-for-performance environment with promotion opportunities? Nope. Each year during Performance Review season, Directors are given a small bucket of money to disperse - if you are liked, you get more. If you aren't liked, you'll be lucky to get 1-2% but they'll promise to make it up to you in coming years. That never actually happens. Over the past couple years, revenue has significantly decreased - both with new business and renewals. Clients are leaving as soon as their contract is up. Unless there are significant changes, many suspect this company will be bankrupt within the next 5 years.

We appreciate you sharing your perspective and are disappointed to hear the views you have on the company. We are on an ongoing journey to continuously nurture a strong employee culture, improve our solutions and strengthen client relationships and by and large, the outcomes have been very positive. We are excited about the progress we’ve made with our Products which shows in our solid sales performance. We’ve seen a 40% increase in quarter over quarter sales in 2019. Feedback at our annual client conference two months ago confirmed that clients too are seeing great progress in our solutions and continuing to grow their relationships with us. We are proud of our NPS score increasing by 27 points over the past year. We’ve continued to grow our teams and client base significantly through three strong acquisitions over the past nine months. We are proud of the recognition of our Minneapolis office recently received as a Best Places to work. We are equally proud of the fact that we’ve recognized 17 employees through major promotions this past year, of which 82% of all promotions were for employees working outside of the Minneapolis office. We know building a great enduring company is an ongoing process and would welcome further discussions on your thoughts and ideas on how we can continue to improve.
