Pros

- Get to work with wonderful, kind, and helpful people. They encourage you to be yourself. - Challenging and constantly changing work. They do a good job of switching you around on projects for a boutique firm. - Management is sensitive to your wants and needs. They always seek feedback and quickly act on any ideas you have. - You have support to implement any side projects you want. You can get involved easily with any aspect of the business. You voice 100% counts here. - No travel outside of the Chicago area - Great benefits, easy to take a vacation (it's encouraged!) - Competitive wage

Cons

- Commute can be long if you live in the city and have to travel to burbs. - Depending on your project hours can be long (but seriously, this is any job especially consulting). They are good about asking if there is too much on your plate.

Pros

• Very family friendly • Great salary and benefits • Flexible work environment • We use different technologies depending on client needs, which generally leads to using the latest and greatest • Not very much travel involved • Good professional development

Cons

Depending on your client assignments, you may find yourself working in the same industry for a long time, or you may find yourself jumping from industry to industry. This hasn't been a con for me, but I think some people either want more variety, or want to work in a specific industry. To their credit, Aptitive certainly takes your wants/wishes into account when making assignments, but it may not be exactly what you want.

Pros

Aptitive push me to learn more in my 3 month internship about consulting, Information Systems, and Computer Science field than I ever imagined I would from an internship. They exposed me to client work and opportunities that most internships are not structured to provide. To make sure that I was supported in my role, Aptitive assigned me a mentor that was extremely helpful and accessible for answering questions and navigating any situation. My mentor even took the time to give me a small intro course to everything I would need to know over the summer. Additionally, they encouraged me to participate in classes on new technologies, learn new coding languages, and even take various certification tests, in order to enhance skilsl I could carry with me past the program. The company was genuinely interested in helping me grow professionally, gain experience in the day-to-day life of consulting, and communicating with me about pros, cons, and areas in which they could improve to make my internship better.

Cons

If you are looking for an structured internship, this program is not exactly that. It is very organic and designed with flexibility to serve each specific intern. The management team and assigned mentor adapt the experience to help ensure each person is able to get out of the program what they would like. Everyone is highly communicative about expectations and the experience so it is easy to express one's wants or give suggestions on things to change . You truly are able to get out of it what you put into it...and more! This style was not a negative for me, but I think it is different than most internship experiences and should be considered.
