Pros
It is a very small team so you will have an opportunity to dip your toes in different aspects of the business but be prepared for a lot more responsibility and no extra pay. The people I worked with were great, but every single one of us encountered problems with the pay and management of the company. This lead to nearly the entire canvassing team leaving the company.
Cons
The turnover rate is ridiculous, and for a good reason. Starting off at the company I was excited and motivated, and there seemed to be plenty of opportunities to advance. After a few months of working there, I was able to work on solar designs, but never saw any increase in pay. I was making $12 / hour which is less than minimum wage and was not able to make any commission from canvassing since I was doing designs instead. Since this is such a small company they like to have people work multiple different roles which are good for gaining experience in the different fields. This comes with a catch though, because they also use this to get work done without actually having to pay someone even minimum wage. When I spoke to John, the owner, about this discrepancy he refused to even think about raising my wage. Instead, he offered to give me more training on canvassing even though that commission would not tie into the work being done at the office. No matter how hard you work or how qualified you are, you are sure to be underpaid and underappreciated in this position. I have held off on this review for a while because I thought maybe I was just an isolated case, but everyone has voiced the same concerns and an actual review from a former employee instead of fluff reviews by the owners should paint a clearer picture for those looking at this company.
