Pros

The pros are some of the things that made me join. Lots of funding - don't seem to struggle to raise money - raised from Tiger, Index etc and hiring like mad. Also there's a chance to work with independent businesses and brands which seemed a lot more attractive than the offer I had from one of the famous big tech guys

Cons

Once you join you realise that the company is built on hype and nonsense and doesn't really know what its doing. The whole strategy is basically "let's try and copy Faire but not do such a good job". They are recruiting like mad at the moment as they've raised a big funding round, but the onboarding and management is an absolute farce. Processes are awful, managers don't know what they're doing, and there are lots of second rate people hanging around getting away with doing a bad job. Culture is very white/male/French - the only way to be listened to is to act the same way. I strongly suggest avoiding Ankorstore if you are a female or minority candidate. Perhaps the worst thing is that once you've joined and cut through the hype you realise the business model makes no sense. Seems like business is barely growing on previous month and yet has all this funding (I guess because the VCs had missed Faire?) so is throwing money at the wall trying to bribe stores and brands and hiring lots of B players. When you speak to brands and stores it becomes obvious that they all think Faire is a million times better and we're just copying them, badly. But there is zero willingness from management to listen and most of these B player colleagues seem to believe the hype. It feels like a third rate cult sometimes. Equity is tiny and compensation is also below market, on the basis that you're joining such an amazing tech business and they're raising more money blah blah blah

We appreciate any and all feedback that an employee wants to share with us, this can be done confidentially via your People Partner or you can speak to anyone in the Talent Acquisition team, we'd be especially keen to understand your perception of the company culture. We are a French owned company with 4 leaders who we believe inspire us to be the best we can be and whose focus is to bring in people from different backgrounds and industries to allow us to keep growing through innovative ideas. We are still a new company in the UK and we are learning and working out the best ways to do things for both us and our clients so our processes are changing until we make sure we get it right. We do believe in our business plan and model and we are aiming to continue to grow and hope that you'll continue your journey with us but do talk to us so we can make sure you have the best possible experience of Ankorstore
