Pros

- Excellent students often from aspirational families - Large budgets to use

Cons

1. Management have successfully created a culture where staff are expected to go far beyond their EBA's. Teachers and Heads of learning areas are expected to attend extra curriculars , plan events (masses of paperwork). I had to attend 3 successive Music nights that ran till 8.30pm. Great for parents, awful for employees. Staff seem unaware of their EBA with few union members. 2. My budget for a particular program was 18x the budget I had at a public school. The programmes however are expected to follow "tradition" and are effectively used as a marketing service for prospective parents. For example, a $90,000 a year Music program , with an 85% drop off in year 9 once the subject becomes an elective, is still used to attract prospective parents. 3. Workplace bullying not appropriately dealt with. I was constantly b**ched about and undermined by a staff member. No restorative meeting ever facilitated or disciplinary action 4. IT support. 3 full time staff including manager, but always felt the doors were closed. Solutions were often never found and emergency help was often dismissed.
