Pros

- Super interesting and diverse group of colleagues = great work culture - International collaboration between US+Kenyan team and opportunities for international travel - Good mission (supporting small businesses, last mile solar, microfinancing) - Great work/life balance and a lot of flexibility for family needs. Open to permanent remote work. - Lots of opportunities to pursue interest areas and collaborate across teams and functions

Cons

- Salary and benefits are good for a start-up but can't compete with big tech - International team can sometimes mean before/after hours meetings - Recent business pivot has caused turnover and some loss of team ethos/culture. Long-term business outlook of pivot yet TBD. - Poorly defined career growth trajectories and lack of professional development opportunities - Lack of broader product strategy/ vision (or at least one shared beyond management)

Pros

The purpose of Angaza is to help bring light, energy, and connectivity to the people of the world that have historically not had access to it. The work is extremely important, and the company attacks it as a team.

Cons

Due to the nature of the industry, it is critical that you do more with less. The customers are also severely impacted by challenging economic times such as we have been experiencing the past few years.

Pros

Opportunity to work on a platform for companies that attempt to serve more fundamental human material needs, instead of the next automated and monitored (insert luxury item here). Transparent and open company culture when it comes to decisions. Open office hours with leadership is a simple outflow of this, but you'll also find that its fairly easy to approach other team members and discuss any technical or nontechnical issues of interest in a friendly manner. On the technical side, strong filter against 'ego-driven' development; peer review of both design and implementation is the default approach. At the same time, you'll be able to grow into a subject matter expert in a particular area of the codebase over time if you desire. Not a great fit if you'd like an experience where work is 'thrown over the wall' to another team, you will be expected to take responsibility for the work which you deliver (con, depending on your preferences). Company culture is understanding of parents as well.

Cons

Its not Google, so no free lunches. You will get a well stocked snack cabinet, though.
