Pros
A diverse and talented team on the ground who each brought a unique perspective and skill set. In the first portion of my tenure it felt extremely rewarding to build something for an underserved market.
Cons
The senior leadership team is more interested in chasing after the latest tech trends than they are in creating features that appeal to their actual userbase. This lack of vision and accountability for decision makers has pushed out a majority of employees who were willing to speak up in hopes of an improvement. In terms of career advancement, employees at Amino are more likely to be shunted between roles than they are to receive legitimate promotions. There have been numerous occasions where people were hired then immediately given responsibilities different than what was communicated. The type of individual who is seen as a model employee is one who is always in agreement and willing to sacrifice their own work/life balance at the leaderships discretion.
