Pros

Hours- family friendly. I worked on their digital program, and staying past 5 was unusual. This is the best feature of working there. Benefits- health insurance premiums were very reasonable, company gym membership was super cheap Compensation- slightly below marketing, but acceptable given the hours.

Cons

Culture is old school- their dress code is dated and there are electric shoe polishers in most men's bathrooms. Even though I had work from home access, I could only do it one day a week and it had to be the same day (even if there was a snow storm). Senior management- many have been at Amica their entire career, because Amica prefers to promote from within. They're generally averse to new ideas and have no expertise from other companies. It was difficult to envision a dynamic career in a stagnant environment.

Thank you for your review and feedback. The safety of our employees is of utmost importance to us. We have closed the office in the very recent past to prevent employees from traveling in dangerous conditions, and our inclement weather policy affords employees the flexibility to elect to arrive late or remain out of work if they feel that travel conditions to the office are too hazardous. While we do promote from within, we also hire people from outside of our company, in all departments and across all levels of the organization. We greatly value the skill and talent that both our employees and those outside of our company bring to the table. Thank you.

Pros

Excellent training and onboarding, supportive colleagues, and plenty of opportunities to develop professionally. Ample support for continuous learning and the chance to take on more responsibility over time. The benefits are competitive. There is room for growth and advancement over time.

Cons

I haven’t come across any downsides.

Pros

Nearly all remote work for most (some are 100% remote). Some still hybrid if you are unfortunate to live close to a branch. They try to keep work life balance there for you. Most management (some do not) actually care for you personally. For the industry, caseloads are manageable (still tough job).

Cons

They are slowly becoming more and more controlling in how you work. The new phone system that is coming in (Genesis) is "big brother" listening in and monitoring your day-to-day activities to make sure you are in fact working. NOT A GOOD FEELING! It started with front line staff and now they seem to be rolling it out to their tenured adjuster staff. They should let the fact that we are settling claims show for itself. They say it is "training." I say it is intrusive and fosters a feeling of mistrust. Can't wait to retire! I love what I do, but don't like the trend I am seeing and feeling.
