Pros

Great environment where you can really up your UVM/CUF skills. Starting from Field Leads all the way up to Upper Management, they are always there for any field or personal needs. I have been working here for over 1 year and i am extremely blessed to have been hired on. Company is very family orientated and willing to work with your personal life. I have worked with other Utility companies in the past and none have been more clear and open minded with any suggestions i have to put out. Greatly appreciated ATM.

Cons

Wish contracts lasted a lot longer across the board

Pros

Company truck and gas reimbursement.

Cons

When first hired it could take over a month and a half to even get a call for start date of training. Training is 2 hours away for in office policy and procedures for company. Nothing focusing on field experience just basic HR stuff. You will not be paid travel time to get there for either day. Nor will you receive travel time back with truck on second day. My first day of PG&E office training there was a couple current American Tree Medics employees who told me to look out around here someone is always out to throw you under the bus for something and if need be the owner will find away to get you fired legally. Yikes! Not the best way to start a first day in the PG&E office about a company just starting out with. Once getting all training complete, if Transmission is your assigned position. The company will not train you themselves. They want you to learn the PG&E way. PG&E Transmission Senior VMI must train you their way. Problem is no one does it the same way. So your work will be an error for one or the other based on whom you are working with or is auditing the work. Additionally, if the SVMI's are on vacation or in meetings that week or two, then you basically follow around American Tree Medic employees and observe and not get trained or have equipment like a Gtac to enter any data in. Therefore, a time laps in training happens causing the, " If you don't use it, you lose it!" phrase to hold true in work life. Parking downtown in insane and your meeting work location never begins where you park your truck so hustle the 1/4 to 1/2 a mile to make it happen the best you can and even worse after lunch for the next meet up spot with your trainer.
