There were so many opportunities to learn at AmTest. Each analyst performs a good variety of tests and you are encouraged to learn in different departments throughout the company. The small company environment was really nice to work in. I was always encouraged to organize my own day's work and was never micromanaged on my work. The owners were also always willing to help with tests and answer any questions.
Cons
The starting pay is fairly low but hard work is rewarded with raises and bonuses.
It's an ok place to be as an entry level scientist. There is a lot to learn as most employees have 10-15 analyses to perform each on any given day.
Cons
The hours are long. The pay was less than in retail and barely above minimum wage with no overtime pay (it was a salaried job, not illegal practices). There are a few veterans, but the majority of employees were fresh out of college. Not a clean environment, very old equipment, limited safety gear.
