Pros

There's a lot of trust put in the employees' hands. I came from a company that wasn't very open to new ideas, but Aloompa is constantly pushing us to be better and find ways to improve our own day to day. The founders did an excellent job of getting the company to the point it's at and for a minute it seemed like they may have extended themselves a bit past the point of their abilities, but keen self-awareness led to the hiring of some senior leadership that has overhauled a lot of the internal systems seemingly overnight. The company does take risks which may bother folks who prefer things to be easy, but to me it keeps things spicy.

Cons

Startups are startups. We don't have a treasure trove, so every decision made involves a financial component. Sometimes it feels like we could use an extra hire or two.

As you're aware, we want our team members to feel like they can grow personally and professionally while at Aloompa, and feel they have the resources and the clarity they need in order to make the biggest impact. In addition to promoting several of our current team members into more expansive roles, we will also be adding a number of key members to the team in Q1. We're excited about empowering our team to be successful in 2018 and beyond and are glad you've chosen to be a part of the journey with us.

Pros

The guys are cool. Music playing all day. Free soda and coffee. Open-office, but not a lot of pressure. It's a job. If you just need a job - it's fine to go there. If you want a career - avoid it. It's a dead-end job, basically. If you have a family, and are ok being paid 10-30% less than other company would pay, but having to only work 40h / week, it will fit you.

Cons

Some of the stakeholders / founders (not sure which one of them should be blamed) do not keep their promises (that directly affects you, such as salary, benefits). In fact, other than salary, there are no real benefits (maybe soda / coffee / cookies / snacks as they say and all employees act as they would agree :D ). You can use their insurance plan, and maybe they'll pay, say 50$ and you'll pay 50$, but that's like pennies... They introduces 401k plans, but there is no Employer matching (probably better to keep your money to yourself, invest them in something). Everyone says the new office is so cool, but for me it was a huge downgrade from what I had at my previous company. No clear career path for anyone, mainly because most teams do not have a team leader. There is also a lot of technical debt.

Thanks for your feedback. We don't have any current contractors who work here at this time, so its hard to take the rest of your review seriously. That being said, we agree with you - we have a great group of coworkers here at Aloompa! People are the most valuable resource a company has, and our team is committed to building a collaborative and productive environment for all our employees. We want all of our team members to feel like they are getting the resources and support they need to be successful, and have been working in ways that will provide each of our team members a clear plan for professional growth. We promote from within, accelerate pay increases whenever possible, and are asking our employees about the additional benefits that would provide the most value to them. Our employees built our operational plan, and are in charge of determining how to they want to spend their time in order to innovate and scale. And, most importantly, our employees are shaping the future and are empowered to be successful. The outdated ‘cons’ and 'advice to management' lists have already been addressed. We’re focused on the future - I’m sorry you aren’t here now to see what we’re up to!
