A merger and acquisition led to a slow death to what was probably one of the best engineering cultures in Vancouver, and an exodus of half of the product and engineering team including the majority of senior talent and engineering and design management. Stagnant below-market salaries, no equity in the new company, and uninspiring product leadership all contributed to people leaving, but but biggest factor was that the work was no longer fulfilling.
