Pros
Coworkers on the lower end of the totem pole were a talented, friendly crew.
Cons
Where to start? The two co-owners (brothers) are violent, aggressive people with unrealistic expectations, anger issues, and a total lack of self-awareness. Once witnessed one of them literally *throw a desk phone at an employee* during a meeting. Incredibly toxic environment, always a low-key dread of wondering who would be fired next. Not unusual to hear the CEO Gerry yelling full-volume at an employee behind closed doors. "Management" were all hired early in the company's history, most with no industry experience in either their department OR in managing people, and it shows. Their unprofessionalism, favouritism, and lack of direction were clearly evident. Their main job was to serve as puppets for the two owners. Ultimatums were common-place. Unrealistic, or flat-out impossible goals were expected, and not meeting even one was a fireable offence. Turn over in the sales department is a sight to behold. Other departments would go through phases of projects, and suddenly shifted to something else. Tardiness was an capital offence, which in their minds was "not at your desk at exactly 8:30am". One minute late meant being sent home, or worse. Yet, overtime was expected due to the constant barrage of unrealistic goals (and the fear of unemployment), and never, EVER compensated for. It's common knowledge (spoken in hushed tones among the lower staff) that AlertDriving's turn over is so high, they go to extreme lengths to ensure terminated employees are denied unemployment insurance, even going so far as to lie to the government about ex-employees. AlertDriving is afraid if all the people who were wrongly terminated were granted EI, the government might take notice and open an investigation. Overworked, underpaid, with unrealistic goals and public humiliation. A terrible place to work, and not worth it for any reason. If you currently work for AlertDriving, my advice is to document everything. Every interaction, every screaming match, every ridiculous expectation. Protect yourself.
