Pros
Your skill sets will sharpen and when you leave to another company, that new company will feel like a breeze.
Cons
This is specifically for Orion Risk Management under the Alera Group umbrella. This company is your typical negative Corporate America experience. There is constant bad mouthing, undermining, scheming, and overworking. They will stretch you all the way to your breaking point, make you feel guilty for being burnt out and not give positive reinforcement. A majority of everyone here is either related, previously friends or are neighbors. The referral hiring system which gives large bonuses is huge here. Having crossover like this makes it so that rules are applied to some but not others, those people clique up and the cliques pin people against each other. There is favoritism and if they don’t like someone, they will conspire to get people against them, make the job miserable for them until they eventually quit or are fired. The turn over rate is insane. The work culture is very much face value and stepping on someone to get ahead. If you voice your frustration or file a complaint with the in-house HR, it will get back to that person and there is retaliation. They are very upfront with how everyone talks to each other about each other so if you say something in confidence, even if it’s personal, it will be circulated throughout the office. You will not be advocated or supported. The producers and AEs have the most influence, if they are bullying or making things difficult, don’t expect to get helped. Again, they are all either related, friends prior or have been together for decades. The work environment is toxic. You will be stressed, overworked, taken advantage of and discouraged. You will experience a “corporate glow down” and ptsd, however you will be so wrapped up in it l, you will not realize how bad it was until you leave. Alera as a company itself really stressed “action and accountability”. There is no collaboration or positive reinforcement. They expect constant peak performance that goes above and beyond what is expected at all times. Have a bad day, family member passes, car gets stolen, and your work is off, it will be clocked immediately, generalized and you will be reprimanded. Very disappointed after years of dedication. There is no team/company bonding outside of the cliques unlike what they try to present online via social media or job listings.
