Pros

Akamai is broken in to two main teams - Media team and the Web/Security team. Media team have some very talented management locally, regionally and globally. Some hugely intelligent technical resources and very good sales people. Web/Security team have some great people also but mostly the sales people and technical guys. Security is growing and that is down to the sales team who have done well to prioritise the focus on this set of solutions and lead with a security mindset than traditional CDN play of acceleration etc. Very good products and excellent support teams. Extremely switched on senior leadership in the US who are also modest and easy to talk to and discuss. CEO is a very intelligent and personable character.

Cons

Some pockets of bad management in region. Politics is very visible between the two divisions and between certain management where it seems almost personal. That happens in large organisations which is fine but when it becomes easily noticeable and very publicly aware then that is not good for anyone. Outdated internal systems which you can overcome but definitely needs a major overhaul. Somewhat slow to bring out new features which sales have been asking for that our competition bring to market much quicker.

Pros

Genuinely collaborative culture with talented, supportive colleagues across sales, marketing, and technical teams. * Strong work-life balance and flexibility compared to many companies in the cybersecurity industry. * Meaningful products and technology with a strong reputation in the market. * Employees are trusted to own their work without excessive micromanagement. * Good benefits and a people-first culture that generally prioritizes employee well-being.

Cons

As a large organization, decision-making can sometimes be slow and require alignment across multiple stakeholders. * Organizational changes and shifting priorities occasionally create uncertainty. * Cross-functional processes can be complex, which can impact speed of execution.
